Join Us
We are actively seeking new members, aged 18 or over, from all backgrounds, to join our exciting long-standing amateur theatre company.
No experience is necessary - we welcome enthusiastic individuals who would like to start a new hobby or maybe get back into an old one.
Being involved in a theatre production, be it on or off stage, is very rewarding and a great way to meet like-minded people in a creative and welcoming environment.
Auditions take place throughout the season for our productions, and our approach is simple - we look to cast the best person for the part!
The standards we maintain are high, but the range of roles across our varies season means there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Joining our membership also gives you access to further opportunities to perform beyond The Playhouse. We’re regularly approached by local businesses and producers to put our talented actors forward for community-based projects, and have previously taken productions to local Fringe festivals.
ACTORS
We would love to bring new members into our in-house team of creatives. No matter how much experience you have (or don’t have!) in theatre production, there are opportunities to support with:
Set design and build
Lighting and sound
Props
Costume
Stage management
Front of house volunteers are also an essential and much appreciated part of our team.

During our production season, The Playhouse is open for set construction most Sunday mornings from 10am. No experience is needed, our members will gladly share their knowledge and experience as nobody is expected to be an expert at anything. Come along and pick up a screwdriver or wield a paintbrush in a relaxed, friendly environment with a guarantee of plenty of tea and biscuits.
